Rising-star McLaren driver Lando Norris is the 2025 F1 champion, edging out Max Verstappen by the slimmest of margins. What are the full details behind this perfect season for both Lando and McLaren?

McLaren’s dream season
This year’s F1 season was pretty much McLaren’s show from start to finish. They locked in the Constructors’ title early, and the only thing left to settle was whether Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri would take the Drivers’ crown, both were sitting comfortably at the top. McLaren’s rise this season was fueled by solid teamwork, smart strategy, and the impressive form of their young drivers.
At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lando finished in P3. Max Verstappen won the race, but the crucial two-point advantage was enough for Lando to claim the first championship title of his career. On the other hand, Max had to accept the end of his four-year champ streak.
What it means to Lando
Winning a world title is every driver’s dream, and that includes Lando Norris. The 26-year-old officially became this season’s world champion, ending McLaren’s 17-season title drought.
”Lando’s victory came as a bit of a surprise, especially since his teammate Oscar Piastri had been seen as the strongest contender. Piastri dominating the standings earlier in the season, before dropping off in the final few races.”
That dip sparked rumors that Piastri was being sidelined, with claims that McLaren were backing Lando for the title. Putting those heated debates aside, Lando fully deserved the championship, finishing two points ahead of Max Verstappen and 13 points clear of Piastri. He showed real determination and silenced the critics, bouncing back from his disqualification at the previous GP in Las Vegas.
