Guernica Club Slashes Solitude with ‘Curtains’

Jakarta-based band Guernica Club has just dropped their newest single, ‘Curtains.’ The track explores themes that feel personal yet universal, moments and emotions we can all relate to. Let’s dive in and see what makes this release stand out below.

Stay true to their core

‘Curtains’ is the latest release from the trio Kenisa, Yosua, and Aldo, dropping at the end of 2025. This time, they teamed up with Merdi Simanjuntak from Diskoria Selekta. With both bringing their signature dance-pop vibes to the table, the collaboration gave birth to this new single.

Listening to ‘Curtains’ feels a bit different from Guernica Club’s earlier work. This time, a sense of quiet and stillness takes center stage. Yet the band stays true to their core, with signature synth touches that unmistakably mark it as the dazzling trio.

As Kompas.com notes, Guernica Club’s latest track dives into a darker, introspective space. The song is a journey of self-discovery and chasing the light slipping through the curtains. These curtains, hanging between shadow and sunlight, become the heart and title of the new single.

Capital’s hidden gem

Since the release of ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Hanahaki Disease,’ the band has shown serious promise. Back then, they arrived with a fresh sound that stood out, along with the visuals that very memorable. At the time, it even felt like the band was not from Indonesia, and it’s a compliment.

Four years later, “Curtains” arrives as a trio. The collaboration with Merdi adds an exciting layer, giving the band even more momentum to light up the dance floor. The collaboration feels effortlessly right, like a perfectly matched couple in sync.

Besides the standard version, they also released a ‘Showbiz Pool Remix’ of ‘Curtains.’ This remix turns up the tempo, making the track feel more upbeat and playful. What’s especially interesting is how the band can reinterpret the same single in two completely different ways. The trio are showing off their versatility!

”It’s only a matter of time before Guernica Club stops being a hidden gem in the capital. They’re a perfect match, musically, conceptually, in character, and in spirit.”
